100 Bicol MSMEs aim for P25-M sales in Mandaluyong trade fair

LEGAZPI CITY – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in Bicol is aiming to generate PHP25 million in sales as micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the region participate in the Orgullo kan Bikol (OKB) Trade Fair at SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City from Oct. 9-13.

Jocelyn Berango, DTI-Bicol spokesperson, said Tuesday that 100 MSMEs from the six Bicol provinces will participate and showcase their finest products.

“The OKB, throughout the years, has provided opportunities for our homegrown entrepreneurs to find new markets and become more competitive,” she said in an interview.

Berango said the OKB is now in its 27th year and has become a platform to showcase the region’s heritage and demonstrate Bicolano’s resilience.

“OKB has gone beyond being an annual marketing event for Bicol Region’s finest handicrafts and top food delicacies that uphold our pride and reflect our exceptional craftsmanship. This annual event celebrates the entrepreneurial spirit, cultural heritage, and innovation of Bico
lano entrepreneurs, offering a unique opportunity for buyers to explore a diverse range of local products,” she said.

Some of the products that are always part of the fair are the famous delicacies of the Bicol region, such as pinangat (taro leaves cooked in coconut milk), Bicol express, pili candies, and pansit bato as well as handicrafts made from abaca.

Berango said DTI-Bicol is inviting domestic and foreign buyers to take a closer look at these products that the 100 entrepreneurs will offer.
