28th Cambodia-Japan Joint Committee Meeting Held


The 28th Cambodia-Japan Joint Committee Meeting was held under the Agreement between the two countries for the Liberalisation, Promotion and Protection of Investment, discussing ten topics covering the areas of taxation, logistics, energy, trade, security and human resource.

The meeting, organised at the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC)’s headquarters on Sept. 4 was co-chaired by H.E. SUN Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice President of the CDC, and H.E. UENO Atsushi, Ambassador of Japan to Cambodia, with the participation of representatives from relevant Cambodian ministries and institutions, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO), Japanese Business Association of Cambodia (JBAC), and Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), as well as Japanese companies investing in Cambodia.

On the occasion, H.E. SUN Chanthol reiterated the CDC’s readiness to facilitate all investments and its formulation of digital technology syste
m to address challenges and find solutions for all investments.

The CDC vice president also encouraged government ministries and institutions to collaborate with all stakeholders to respond to the requests and solve challenges timely and before the next meeting in the next six months.

For his part, H.E. UENO Atsushi thanked the Royal Government of Cambodia and the CDC for their participation in dealing with Japanese investors’ concerns raised by Japanese investors in the previous meetings, a role model meeting for other countries.

The Japanese ambassador also underlined the active broadcasting of media outlets in Japan about Cambodia’s investment potentials and opportunities thanks to Cambodia-Japan business forums and H.E. SUN Chanthol’s ‘knock-on-door’ mission to attract more foreign investors to Cambodia.
