MANILA: The Commission on Elections (Comelec) said Tuesday it has processed 348,349 applications in the first week of the resumption of voter registration for the 2025 midterm polls.
Comelec chair George Garcia, in a message to reporters, said the applications were “received from Feb. 12 to 17”.
The figures include 180,175 female applicants and 168,174 male applicants.
By region, Calabarzon recorded the highest number of applications with 61,736 (32,011 females and 29,725 males), followed by the National Capital Region with 48,187 (26,779 females and 21,408 males) and Central Luzon with 38,114 (19,409 females and 18,705 males).
Meanwhile, Central Visayas logged 29,201 applicants (14,592 females and 14,609 males), Davao with 23,291 (11,762 females and 11,529 males).
The Ilocos Region recorded 17,278 applicants (8,513 females and 8,765 males); Northern Mindanao with 16,880 (8,999 females and 7,881 males); Western Visayas with 16,312 (8,208 females and 8,104 males); Eastern Visayas with 13,063 (6,865 female
s and 6,198 males); Bicol with 12,439 (6,298 females and 6,141 males).
The Zamboanga Peninsula has logged 11,203 applicants (5,794 females and 5,409 males); Cagayan Valley with 10,981 (5,587 females and 5,394 males); Caraga with 10,730 (5,383 females and 5,347 males); Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao with 9,356 (4,885 females and 4,471 males); Mimaropa with 8,924 (4,332 females and 4,592 males) and Cordillera Administrative Region with 3,927 (2,075 females and 1,852 males).
The Comelec’s main office in Intramuros, Manila, where a satellite registration is also being held, processed 694 applications (362 females and 332 males).
The voter registration period will end on Sept. 30
Aside from application for new registration, the Comelec is also accepting applications for transfer of registration from another city/municipality/district; transfer of registration from overseas to local; correction of entries or change of status; and reactivation.
