The Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) has called on friendly countries and development partners to continue their active support for its mine clearance efforts.

This call was made by Senior Minister H.E. Ly Thuch, First Vice President of the Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority (CMAA), in his brief report on the status of mine action in Cambodia and the preparations for hosting the 5th Review Conference or the Siem Reap-Angkor Summit for a Mine-Free World of the Ottawa Convention, during a meeting held at the UNDP Cambodia office here on Aug. 20.

Cambodia needs continued participation and support of friendly countries and development partners for her humanitarian mine action so that she can escape from the threat of landmines and other explosive remnants of war, especially improve the Cambodians’ living conditions, he stressed.

The meeting was co-chaired by the UN resident coordinator in Cambodia and the Australian Embassy, and brought together representatives from foreign embassies in C
ambodia and development partners, including ADB, AFD, Canada, Czech Republic, EU, France, Germany, GGI, GIZ Germany, IFC, IKCF-Inter-Korean Cooperation Fund, India, IMF, Ireland, Japan, JICA, KfW, KOICA, Singapore, Republic of Korea, Sweden, Thailand, Turkey, UK, USAID, World Bank, etc. and all UN agencies in Cambodia.
