Cherry Creates History As First Malaysian To Win World Cup Solo Latin

KUALA LUMPUR, National dancer, Cherry Yeo Xiao Wei created history by being the first Malaysian to bag the World DanceSport Federation’s (WDSF) World Cup Solo Latin, in Belgrade, Serbia, Friday.

In a statement today, the Malaysia Dancesport Federation said the 19-year-old showcased exceptional talent and artistry in securing the top spot in the Solo Latin Female category.

The sole Malaysian competitor triumphed over Italy’s Giorgia Santella, who claimed the silver medal, while Hong Kong’s Chan Hei Lam secured the bronze.

‘The success of the Malaysian DanceSport team would not have been possible without the dedicated support and expert guidance of their coaches, Chua Zjen Fong and Evon Chong from MY DanceSport Academy.

‘Their commitment to nurturing the athletes’ talents has been instrumental in achieving these remarkable results. Credit to the Ministry of Youth and Sports, MYDF, and Kuala Lumpur Dancesport Association for their support as well,’ it said.

Last month, Cherry danced her way to claim the WD
