PM Reiterates Government’s Continued Attention to Sports Sector


The 7th-mandate Royal Government of Cambodia will continue to pay attention to the development of the sports sector through further reform and related infrastructure construction.

The attention was re-emphasised by Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet when he was presiding over the official Opening Ceremony of the 4th National Games and 2nd National Para Games at the National Olympic Stadium in Phnom Penh this evening.

The biennial sporting event contributes significantly to enhancing the capacity of Cambodian athletes, especially in preparation for the Asian Youth Games 2029 to be hosted by Cambodia and other sports competitions, he underlined.

The Premier thanked all stakeholders for their contribution to the smooth organisation of the 4th National Games and 2nd National Para Games.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet also recalled the proud success of Cambodia in orgasing the 32nd SEA Games and 12th ASEAN Para Games in 2023 and many other major national and international sporting events, stress
ing that they could be organised thanks to the country’s peace and development.

Themed ‘National Sports for Funan Techo Canal,’ the 4th National Games include 36 types of sports with 328 events, while the 2nd National Para Games feature 13 kinds of sports with 55 disciplines.

Athletes registered to compete in the event are from the 25 capital and provinces and three ministries, including the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of National Defence, and Ministry of Economy and Finance.

The Closing Ceremony of the 4th National Games and 2nd National Para Games is scheduled for Nov. 8 under the presidency of H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Education, Youth and Sports.
