The Police Regional Office-5 (PRO5) in Bicol seized some PHP9.06 million worth of illegal drugs during 76 drug operations conducted by different police units in September. Lt. Col. Malu Calubaquib, PRO5 spokesperson, said 88 drug personalities were arrested and 135 cases were filed in courts. “Some of the arrested suspects were filed with two cases for violation of Sec. 5 and 11 of RA (Republic Act) 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. A total of 1,333.2012 grams of shabu and 16.5307 grams of marijuana were seized during the operations,” she said in an interview on Monday. Calubaquib said the accomplishments show the effective collaboration and support of the community and different stakeholders in the region. “We are thankful for the continued support for the different programs and activities conducted and implemented by PRO5. We are together in this fight against illegal drugs,” she added. Calubaquib said proper information and dissemination campaigns to the public had an impact on the accomplishments. “The relentless drive, reinforced by successful operations and comprehensive public engagement, demonstrates the unit’s determination to create a safer and drug-free environment for the Bicolanos,” she said.
