4 charges filed against middle-aged man who drove a sedan and crashed into 6 cars, injuring 7


Bangkok, July 5 – Police are urgently questioning and checking the history of a middle-aged man who crashed a sedan into 6 cars, injuring 7 people, one of whom is seriously injured, and pressing 4 charges before granting him bail without having to post a surety.

A dashboard camera captured the moment when a middle-aged man was driving a BMW at high speed before crashing into a motorcycle in front of him, causing the motorcycle to fall over. The rider was thrown onto the road, while the woman sitting on the back was thrown from the motorcycle before her body landed on Sukhapiban 5 Road in front of Sarasas Witaed Sai Mai School. After the BMW crashed, the BMW’s taillights showed no brake lights or the car slowing down at all. As a result, witnesses had to call the police and rescue workers to help take the injured men and women to the hospital, as both were seriously injured.

After the incident, there was additional information that during the time it was reported that the BMW had hit a motorcycle, rescue wo
rkers and Sai Mai volunteers were notified that there had been an incident where the BMW had hit 5 other cars on Sukhaphiban 5 Road, 4 incidents.

The first incident reported was on Sukhaphiban 5 Road, Soi 86, where the sedan that caused the accident crashed into a sedan, injuring one person. The second incident occurred not far from the first one, where the sedan that caused the accident crashed into a grey Nissan, but there were no injuries in this incident.

Incident 3: Crashing into a motorcycle, but not just one. In addition to what was seen on the camera, the BMW also crashed into another motorcycle, injuring 2 more people. That means that 2 motorcycles crashed into this point, injuring 4 people.

The fourth incident occurred on Sukhapiban 5 Road, Soi 73. A BMW sedan crashed into a car and two pickup trucks, injuring two people. At the time of the report, four cars and two motorcycles had been hit, and a total of seven people were injured.

However, the car that hit the van ended up hitting the sidewalk
at the Wongkorn Market intersection in Sai Mai District, allowing the police to quickly apprehend the culprit and take him for further questioning at Sai Mai Police Station.

In this incident, one of the victims said that before the incident, he saw this car driving up behind him. He tried to speed away, but was hit from behind twice more. Then the car that hit him sped past and ran away. He just found out that this car had hit another car.

Relatives of the injured person who was riding pillion on the motorcycle said that the injured person is still in the ICU, his brain has been damaged, and he is still unconscious. They want the driver who hit him to take responsibility and for the police to prosecute him to the fullest extent of the law. They admitted that from what they talked to the police, they were confused as to why the driver who hit him could hit so many other cars when there was no alcohol in his system. They also just learned that before the man hit the other cars, he had hit the barrier of a hou
sing project.

Police confirm no alcohol or drugs found in the driver.

Pol. Col. Rangsan Sonsingh, Superintendent of Sai Mai Police Station, confirmed that after the incident, the driver of the car that hit the car was taken for alcohol and drug tests, but no drugs or alcohol were found in his system. However, the interrogation still gave incoherent statements, so up until now, the cause and motive for the incident have not been concluded. As for whether he may have a mental illness, this is still unclear. However, they are in the process of coordinating with the doctor and the hospital where the man was previously treated to determine if he has a history of this.

The driver was charged with 4 counts – bail granted without having to post a surety.

Initially, the investigator charged the driver with 4 counts. The charges will be different in nature because the suspect hit the victim at 4 points, starting from Sukhaphiban 5, Soi 86 to Wongkorn Market.

However, the investigators have granted the suspect temp
orary bail without having to post a bond and will call the suspect in for further questioning
