APM RESPONDED TO 1,044 CASES DURING OP PRIHATIN

The Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) responded to 1,044 cases involving 3,132 victims in Op Prihatin conducted, in conjunction with the Aidilfitri festive season.

APM chief commissioner Aminurrahim Mohamed said the operation was carried out in two phases, the first from April 18 to 21, and the second from April 28 to May 1.

He said during the operation, APM personnel conducted patrols in designated areas to ensure swift response to emergencies during the festive season.

“A total of 1,416 APM officers and personnel nationwide were involved in this operation, and that among the assistance they offered were clearing roads of fallen trees, acting as first responders in accident cases, and assisting other road users in need,” he said.

Speaking at the APM’s Aidilfitri Open House and the launch of the Sahabat Pertahanan Awam (PeSPA) initiative at the APM headquarters here today, Aminurrahim said throughout the operation, APM personnel responded to 201 road accident cases, involving 273 victims.

“We also responded to 34 fallen tree cases, 333 minor damage cases, 36 road obstruction cases, 198 animal rescue cases, and 230 other cases.

“APM personnel also conducted 12 disaster patrols during the period,” he said.

On PeSPA, Aminurrahim said it was established to further strengthen APM’s role in helping and providing emergency early response to the community.

He said PeSPA currently has about 100 members and that its membership is open to all Malaysians.
