Australia to Continue Support for Cambodia’s Mine Clearance Efforts.


Siem Reap: Australia will maintain its support and cooperation with Cambodia in mine clearance initiatives, as expressed by H.E. Kim Beazley AC, Chairman of the Australian War Memorial, during his courtesy call on Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet in Siem Reap province on November 25.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, H.E. Kim Beazley AC, who is also a former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence of Australia, emphasized the strong and enduring relationship between Australia and Cambodia across various sectors. He praised Cambodia for successfully organizing the Siem Reap-Angkor Summit on a Mine-Free World, showcasing the country’s commitment to global de-mining efforts.

In response, Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet expressed gratitude to H.E. Kim Beazley AC for his involvement in the summit. He highlighted that Beazley’s presence signifies Australia’s dedication to aiding in the eradication of anti-personnel mines, a significant issue affecting Ca
mbodia.

The Cambodian Premier also conveyed his contentment with the robust bilateral relations between Cambodia and Australia, acknowledging the substantial support from the Australian people and government. He noted that such assistance has been vital in Cambodia’s peace-building and reconstruction efforts, playing a pivotal role in the nation’s socio-economic development.
