the National Bank of Cambodia (NBC) organised a soft launch ceremony of “Bakong Tourists App” in Siem Reap provincial city on Aug. 19.

The event was presided over by H.E. Dr. Chea Serey, Governor of the NBC with the participation of approximately 150 representatives from government ministries and institutions such as Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, and relevant stakeholders in private sector.

According to the NBC, the soft launch of “Bakong Tourists App” will contribute to promoting tourism sector in Cambodia by providing an electronic means of payment enabling international tourists visiting Cambodia to make payment for goods and services efficiently and conveniently.

In this regard, the source continued, international tourists simply need to download the “Bakong Tourists App” and install the app on their mobile phone upon arrival in Cambodia, then register to create an account using an email.

International tourists can top up their accounts through b
usiness partners and make payment transactions by scanning the KHQR Code with approximately 3.3 million retail merchants within Cambodia, said the central bank.
