Batu Pahat-Mersing Intersection Expansion Project Set For November Completion

KLUANG, The expansion works at the intersection of the Federal Route FT50 Batu Pahat-Mersing, involving an alllocation of RM500,000, are scheduled for completion by the end of November.

Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan said that the widening works at the intersection of Jalan Ismail towards Jalan Mengkibol and from Jalan Hospital towards Jalan Station, beneath the Kluang elevated railway line, will commence shortly.

“This area frequently experiences bottlenecks and severe congestion during peak hours, weekends and school holidays, prompting the government to agree to the request from two elected representatives for this project to be undertaken,” he said.

Ahmad, accompanied by Kluang member of parliament Wong Shu Qi and Mengkibol assemblyman Chew Chong Sin, said this to reporters after inspecting the project site today.

He described the implementation of the project as a sign of the government’s concern for the issues faced by the people, as well as being in line with the government’s commit
ment to providing good and safe infrastructure.

Meanwhile, regarding the issue of flooding in Kluang, Ahmad said that the Works Ministry has submitted a master plan to address the problem, which includes areas such as Kampung Padang Tembak, Kampung Paya and Kampung Sembrong.

Discussions with the Ministry of Rural Development (KKDW) as well as Energy Transition and Water Transformation Ministry (PETRA) will also be held to resolve the issue comprehensively, he added.
