Cambodia Bags Second Gold Medal at 12th ASEAN Para Games in Long Jump Athletics

Cambodia this morning grabbed its second gold medal at the 12th ASEAN Para Games 2023 in women’s long jump athletics by athlete Vith Chantha.

Chantha completed a 3.99-metre distance to win the gold medal while her Myanmar counterparts got silver and bronze medals with 3.74-metre and 3.4-metre distance, respectively.

Chantha thus succeeded in defending her gold medal for the women’s long jump event at the 11th ASEAN Para Games in Solo, Indonesia in 2022.

As of this afternoon, Cambodia earned in total four medals including two gold (in 3×3 women’s wheelchair basketball and long jump), a silver and a bronze, according to the 12th ASEAN Para Games Organising Committee.

Cambodia is hosting the 12th ASEAN Para Games from June 3 to 9, 2023. As the host, the Kingdom deployed 252 para athletes to compete with 1,201 para athletes from other ten regional nations, including Brunei, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam.

Fourteen (14) sports including Athletics, Badminton, Boccia, Chess, 5-a-side Football, 7-a-side Football, Goalball, Judo, Powerlifting, Swimming, Table Tennis, Siting Volleyball, Wheelchairs Basketball, and E-sports (Demonstration) are listed for the regional games with 431 sports events at the Morodok Techo National Stadium, National Olympic Stadium and other courts in Phnom Penh capital.

Cambodia obtained 28 medals (7 gold, 10 silver, and 11 bronze) at the 11th ASEAN Para Games.
