Cambodian Minister to Tourism H.E. Sok Soken held discussed opportunities to promote the cooperation in the field of tourism with ambassadors of Iran and Brunei Darussalam, at the ministry office in Phnom Penh on Wednesday.
During the meeting with H.E. ALI AKBAR NAZARI, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Iran to the Kingdom of Cambodia, the two sides pledged to promote the sustainable and resilient development of the two countries’ tourism sectors, as well as strengthen the competitiveness and tourism flow of the two countries.
H.E. Ambassador commended Cambodia for the friendly policies towards Muslims, with the increasing number of Halal restaurants in Phnom Penh, as well as the ease of applying for an electronic visa (E-Visa) to Cambodia compared to other countries. He also affirmed the commitment to promote Cambodia as a major tourist destination for Iranians, while striving to have direct flights between Phnom Penh and Tehran in the near future.
The separate meeting with
H.E. Pengiran Kasmirhan Pengiran Tahir, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Brunei Darussalam to the Kingdom of Cambodia, focused on the promotion of sustainable and resilient tourism development in both countries, as well as strengthening competitiveness and promoting mutual tourism flow, especially boosting the flow of tourists in the ASEAN region through joint efforts.
By recognising the importance of tourism sector as an essential element and in the enhancement of socio- economic development and people-to-people connectivity of the two countries, H.E. Minister and H.E. Ambassador further discussed about the preparation on Memorandum of Understanding on Tourism Cooperation to further boost tourism cooperation between both nations within the bilateral and multi-lateral framework.
H.E. Sok Soken shared a new vision for the development of Cambodia tourism sector by highlighting the strategic initiative “BUILD + 3Ds”, along with many other strategic efforts, with the aim of transforming Cambodia
into a dynamic, competitive, sustainable and inclusive destination.
