Cambodia Discusses Cooperation with U.S.

H.E. Chum Sounry, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and Mr. Andrew Herrup, Chargé d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Cambodia, discussed the productive cooperation between the two countries in both bilateral and ASEAN frameworks, in a meeting held at the ministry on May 29.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, on the occasion, H.E. Secretary of State spoke highly of the advances in various areas of cooperation, including high-level interactions, growing bilateral trade, the increasing presence of U.S. companies in Cambodia, and the excellent cooperation on culture and antiquities.

The cooperation on POW/MIA where Cambodia has been considered the ‘best partner’, and the good cooperation on health, education, repatriation and tourism were also raised by H.E. Chum Sounry.

H.E. Secretary of State expressed his optimism for the continued development in the bilateral ties.

The discussion also touched on cooperation in the A
SEAN framework as Cambodia will assume the role of country coordinator for ASEAN-U.S. Dialogue Relations for three years from 2024 to 2027, starting this coming July.
