Cambodian PM Receives International Election Observers

Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen received here at the Peace Palace this morning international observers who came to observe the National Election in Cambodia to be held tomorrow.

According to H.E. Sry Thamrong, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister, in the courtesy meeting, Samdech Techo Hun Sen extended warm welcome to all the international observers for taking the time to travel to Cambodia to witness the democratic process in Cambodia.

The Premier underlined that this year’s parliamentary election received the largest number of foreign observers and the highest number of dignitaries.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen briefed his guests on the electoral system in Cambodia as well as the regular organisation of the general election, commune/Sangkat council election, senate election, and capital, provincial, city, district and Khan council election.

The Prime Minister also mentioned his plan for the next generation leadership to ensure the country’s political and economic stability.

For their part, the international observers expressed his appreciation for Samdech Techo Hun Sen’s leadership and lauded the fast development of Cambodia in terms of politics, economy, physical infrastructure, order, and people’s better living standard.

According to the National Election Committee (NEC), over 600 international observers from some 60 institutions, including the speaker of Dewan Rakyat of Malaysia, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau and many former heads of state, heads of government, former presidents and vice presidents of the National Assembly, have been accredited for the July 23 National Election.
