Commission Acts Without Fear Or Favour – MACC

Every enforcement action taken by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Agency (MACC) is done without fear or favour and is free from interference by any party.

The MACC stressed in a statement today that all enforcement action was conducted fairly and impartially under all circumstances, in line with the principle of sovereignty and the rule of law.

The commission also labelled allegations that it had received orders from certain parties to not investigate individuals over a company’s share purchase as irresponsible and a deliberate attempt at creating a negative perception of the commission.

‘It is stressed that the MACC does not open an investigation paper arbitarily without evidence and facts. Every investigation is conducted according to standard operating procedures (SOP) based on legal provisions and monitored by five independent bodies,’ the commission said in a statement denying the claims.

The commission also said that it would not succumb to pressure from any party trying to divert attention from ongo
ing investigations into corruption and misconduct with fabricated claims.

As such, the commission urged the public not to be misled by claims from parties seeking to link MACC with attacks on specific interest groups.
