EFFORTS TO STRENGTHEN DISTRICT OFFICE CRUCIAL TO DEVELOPMENT PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION

The government’s efforts to strengthen district and land offices nationwide are crucial to ensure that all approved development projects can be implemented within the stipulated time to safeguard the well-being of the people.

Kuala Kangsar district officer Zulhisham Ahmad Shukori expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim who focused on strengthening the district and land offices to expedite the country’s development efforts.

“As a representative of the district office, what is implemented is very important for the development of the country and we are ready to implement whatever the Prime Minister has outlined… (the submission of the project performance report next Friday) can be implemented,” he said.

He said this to reporters after the closing ceremony of the People’s Development and Well-Being Convention at Perdana Hall, UiTM Merbok, Sungai Petani, today, which was officiated by the Prime Minister.

The two-day convention, organised by the Implementation Coordination Unit, Prime Minister’s Department (ICU JPM), served as a platform to translate MADANI’s aspirations in the context of development and people’s well-being, in addition to discussing governance from the perspective of regulations and best practices in realising the country’s socio-development agenda.

The convention was attended by 700 participants, among them were senior officials of the ministries, state governments’ secretaries, federal secretaries of Sabah and Sarawak and district officers nationwide.

In his closing speech, the Prime Minister said the government emphasised efforts to strengthen district and land offices nationwide to ensure that national development projects are implemented efficiently and effectively for the well-being of the people.

Anwar also asked all district officers to submit performance reports on problematic projects and list their respective needs, to be submitted to him no later than next Friday (June 23), so that immediate action can be taken.

The Prime Minister also launched the MyProjek at the event.

Meanwhile, Hulu Perak district officer Mohd Zairasyahli Shah Zakaria described the government’s efforts as showing that the Prime Minister recognises the importance of district officers’ role in the national development process.

He said that district officers play a monitoring role in every approved development project to ensure that the project can be completed within the stipulated time.

“We welcome the Prime Minister’s announcement. We also agree with his statement that strengthening district offices really needs to be given attention, for us to implement the approved projects…we are very grateful and happy,” he said.
