Mahkota Polls: No Commitments To assist Any Party’s Campaign, Says MUDA

KLUANG, The Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (MUDA) said today that there are no ongoing discussions or commitments to support any party in the upcoming Mahkota state by-election.

Its secretary-general Amir Hadi said the party has opted not to participate in the by-election and instead focus on internal matters, including party rebuilding and preparations for the upcoming party elections.

‘As such, there are no discussions or commitments to assist any party in the ongoing by-election.

‘MUDA is open to discussions and negotiations with any party, but these must be discussed and decided at the Central Executive Committee level,’ he said in a statement today.

The statement is believed to have been issued following reports quoting a Perikatan Nasional (PN) leader, who allegedly claimed that MUDA had agreed to support their campaign in the Mahkota by-election.

The by-election on Sept 28 is a straight fight between Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate Syed Hussien Syed Abdullah and PN’s Mohamad Haizan Jaafar.

I
t is being held following the death of the incumbent, Datuk Sharifah Azizah Syed Zain, 63, on Aug 2.
