MMDA, ride-hailing firms hold ‘ticket or treat’ in QC

MANILA: In the spirit of Christmas, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), together with ride-hailing firms Angkas and Joyride Philippines, gave away grocery packs to motorcycle riders at two locations in Quezon City.

MMDA acting chair Don Artes, Assistant General Manager for Operations Assistance Secretary David Angelo Vargas, Traffic Discipline Office Director for Enforcement Victor Nuñez, Special Operations Group-Strike Force Officer-in-Charge Gabriel Go and representatives from Angkas and Joyride PH led the activity.

Artes said the activity is part of the agency’s “ticket or treat” project which aims to give back to disciplined motorcycle riders who follow traffic laws and regulations.

“We will apprehend riders who are violating traffic rules and regulations but we will also give them grocery packages for the Christmas season,” Artes said.

1 Rider Party-list Reps. Bonifacio Bosita and Rodge Gutierrez also joined the gift-giving activity and showed support for the agency’s project to ens
ure the safety of motorcycle riders, especially this holiday season.

‘We are in support of MMDA’s strict implementation of the traffic rules and regulations,’ Bosita said.

The MMDA said it expects an increase in the number of passengers going in and out of Metro Manila from Dec. 22 onwards.

The agency, together with the Department of the Interior and Local Government, Philippine National Police, Land Transportation Office, and Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board will inspect bus terminals to ensure the safety of passengers this holiday season.
