More Mayon evacuees get cash aid in simultaneous payouts

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Bicol Regional Office on Sunday conducted the final leg of its simultaneous Emergency Cash Transfer (ECT) payout activities for Mayon Volcano evacuees in Albay. Some 1,544 beneficiaries from Barangay San Andres in Sto. Domingo, Albay and 838 target beneficiaries from Barangay San Jose in Malipot, Albay, or a total of 2,382 affected families, received the ECT payout on the final day. Each family in the evacuation centers received PHP12,330. As part of the directive of DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian, the ECT distribution was set for three days (July 14 to16) to ensure that all families affected by Mayon’s unrest are assisted immediately. DSWD-Bicol Director Norman Laurio said those who received the first tranche of cash transfer payouts on Friday were the affected families in the municipalities of Ligao and Guinobatan. There are 951 beneficiaries but only 852 families were served as the remaining 99 have yet to complete their requirements or correct some discrepancies in their identification cards, Laurio reported to Gatchalian. On Saturday, the 922 displaced families from the municipality of Camalig, 586 from Daraga, and 444 from Tabaco City, all in Albay, received their ECT payouts at different evacuation centers
