Rains over parts of Luzon due to trough of ‘Kristine’

Manila: The trough of Severe Tropical Storm Kristine (international name Trami) still affects parts of Luzon even though it is already outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), the weather bureau said Saturday.

In its 4 a.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Kristine’s trough will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Occidental Mindoro and Palawan.

Kristine was last spotted at 3 a.m. 630 km. west of Bacnotan, La Union, packing maximum sustained winds of 95 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 115 kph, moving westward at 20 kph.

Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms will also be felt over the Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, and Northern Mindanao due to the southwesterly wind flow.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Kong-Rey (inter
national name) was last spotted at 3 a.m. 1,825 km. east of Central Luzon outside PAR, packing maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph, moving northwestward at 35 kph.

Moderate to strong winds and rough seas remain to be felt over Luzon, while the Visayas and Mindanao will experience slight to moderate winds and moderate to rough seas.
