KANGAR, Perlis shooting pair Nur Aina Sofea Aziz and Muhammad Ariff Naim Ariff Nazir are optimistic about contributing a gold medal for their state in the Air Rifle Mixed event at the Malaysia Games (SUKMA) 2024 in Sarawak next month.
In a recent interview with Bernama, they expressed their confidence based on thorough preparation and diligent training since 2022 and that their victory in the Air Rifle Mixed event at the Sport Excel MSN/Milo/NSAM 4th Malaysian Championship in August 2022 serves as motivation for them to achieve this goal.
Nur Aina Sofea, 21, and Muhammad Ariff Naim 20, said that they will showcase their best performance at the event, with Nur Aina Sofea being about 95 percent prepared for the SUKMA, while Muhammad Ariff Naim is at 85 percent due to a minor back injury sustained during training.
‘Alhamdulillah, for the SUKMA preparation this time, I have reached about 95 percent. Currently, I am training to further polish my aim and maintain my performance for the competition (SUKMA 2024),
‘ said Nur Aina Sofea.
‘I experienced a minor back injury during training, but it is not a hindrance for me to continue showing my best performance. I will try my best in this event, and I hope my injury will heal completely soon, especially since it is just a minor injury,’ said Muhammad Ariff Naim.
Meanwhile, Perlis State Sports Council (MSNPs) director, Mohd Azraai Zain Tusimin expressed his confidence in the state athletes in the shooting event, particularly Nur Aina Sofea and Muhammad Ariff Naim, for SUKMA 2024.
